This is a great advent event for children to make its our Dutch family recipie which is always made at advent time.

The recipe is as follows:

Sponge mix

  •  3 eggs
  • water
  • self raising flour
  •  baking powder

cook for 25 mins 170 deg C.  Let it cool then chop into cubes

.  1 can of cherries stoned and drained.

.  1 cup of black coffee

. 2 shot glasses of coffee liqueur ( or your tipple)

Put the sponge in a glass dish.  Pour on the coffee and liqueur mixed together.  Sprinkle cherries on top. Chill while making the topping.

  • 300g tub of mascarpone
  • 250g tub of plain soft cheese
  • 300 ml of double cream
  • 2 tablespoons of icing sugar

Whisk  all together , till thick and coat over the cherries and sponge.

Cover with :

. Cocoa powder and grated chocolate
