Nature is so beautiful, and when maths is merged into its creation, it intrigues children.

We started out with two 0.5 cm squares, then added them together 0.5 + 0.5 = 1,

we then drew our 1 cm square to the side, 1 + 0.5 = 1.5 – drawing on a 1.5 cm square

Then the next square 1.5 + 1= 2.5 cm – drawing on a 2cm square can you see the pattern.

i then got a compass and drew in an ark opposite corners to each other.

Draw a line f I’m the top left hand corner to the lower right hand corner a diagnoal.

Measure down 10.5 on the left and right and draw a horizontal line across

Measure across6.5 cm and 10.5 up the bottom left hand corner should meet with the diagnoal line. Making two triangles inside a rectangle.

Again from top right hand corner measure down 6.5 cm on each side of the rectangle and draw across.

Excuse the sketch, but it does help!

We drew a diagonal line across the page, then repeated the pattern on the other opposite end of the paper.

Then coloured it in!! Why don’t you have a go with the children?
