Mosaics have been created by man, for about 4000 years. At first terracotta cones were pushed into to the ground, then it progressed to creating pebble pavements. The Greeks created masterpieces of detailed art and geometric patterns.
We used a premade kit to make these lovely coaster tiles. It was really good to allow the children to experience mosaic work without it being overwhelming.
They covered a square wooden board with pva glue. Then made different patterns. To create more detailed work they could use scissors to make more intricate work like the Rose.
They then grouted them in using the material provided in the kit.
An easy way to keep children entertained for an hour.
